FIVE TOP ACTS YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS AT PRIMAVERA SOUND BARCELONA

By Gigi Washington

Primavera Sound is quickly approaching, and we’re excited to spend the first two weeks of June in Barcelona, Spain getting to jam out to wonderful music and meet new, up and coming musicians! The summer festival is spread across two weekends, June 2-5 and June 9-12 at the Parc Del Forum in Barcelona. The main headliners are Tame Impala, The Strokes, Gorillaz, Tyler the Creator, Dua Lipa, and Jorja Smith.

Along with the headliners, this year's lineup includes other notable acts like the reunion of British female punk/rock band Bikini Kills, Nigerian singer Burna Boy, pop star Charli XCX and the young soft pop vocals of Clairo.

We’re excited to attend for so many reasons but here’s a brief list of 5 acts that we absolutely can’t miss!

1.Pink Pantheress: coming out with her hit debut To Hell With It in 2021, she has been continuously making banging bops one after another. Her latest single “Where You Are” features Willow and we’re excited to hear what she comes out with next.

2. Lorde: Returning back to performing live music, Primavera Sound will be Lorde’s first major festival in two years. While she’s still on her Solar Power tour, we’re excited to welcome her back and see her perform hits from her latest album and hopefully some of her other popular songs from Pure Heroine and Melodrama.

3. Little Simz: She’s been around for years now, but her latest and forth album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert has given her a household name in the United States and all over the rest of the world. This isn’t her first time at Primavera Sound, so we’re excited to see her back, performing hit songs such as, “Woman”, “Point and Kill,” and of course some fan favorites such as “Venom” and “Selfish”.

4. Sky Ferreira: She’s our favorite Myspace-era singer, in which she has been on top in the underground scene for years. She’s back with a new upcoming album, scheduled to be released sometime in 2022, nearly a decade since her debut album. So far from the new album, Masochism, she has released one single from 2019 called “Downhill Lullaby,” while her second single “Don’t Forget” is scheduled to be out in late May 2022. Nonetheless, we’re so happy to see the return of this absolute queen!

5. Megan Thee Stallion: Megan cannot NOT be on this list. She’s been headling so many music festivals this years and performing top notch sets. We’re excited to see her take the stage in Spain and bust out some twerking to “Thot Shit” and “Plan B,” along with many other hits from her albums “Something For Thee Hotties” and “Good News”. Perhaps herself and Dua Lipa, who is another headliner at Primavera Sound, will join together to perform their latest single “Sweetest Pie”.
